Description

• The Legal Assistant I provides legal secretarial and administrative support to Legal & Compliance Department staff, attorneys, paralegals, and officers • Coordinates and assists with state insurance division audits • Assists with the preparation of legal reports and prepares communications, memos, and documents for department and division management • Coordinates the location of documents and records through legal indexing system and records research • Maintains filing, tracking, and disposition system for legal documents, communications, and records • Appropriately establishes, maintains, and releases Legal and/or Litigation Holds • Accepts, tracks and coordinates payment/receipt of legal bills, settlement payments, and reimbursements

Requirements

• 2 years of progressively responsible administrative work experience in a law office or corporate law department, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite; event/meeting agendas, scheduling and coordination; travel coordination; confidential records maintenance • Ability to properly interpret state and federal statutes, regulations and case law • Working knowledge of insurance medical records for claims administration, legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, state and federal civil procedure acts, local court rules, support enforcement, wage withholding, and garnishment laws and regulations • Understanding of medical terminology, group insurance, and understanding of business units served (ISG, AMG, Enterprise/Corporate) • Ability to efficiently collect and organize documents and files in support of litigation and other special projects and maintain utmost confidentiality
