Description

β€’ The Assistant Controller will maintain accounting controls and provide accurate financial information to management and stakeholders to facilitate decision-making. β€’ This position will also determine or maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability or other financial activities for the agency. β€’ This position will report directly to the CFO. β€’ Maintains confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential; β€’ Creates financial statements and reports for upper management as well as clients; β€’ Support firmwide budgeting and forecasting process; β€’ Oversees and manages the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes; β€’ Provides relevant information to CPA firm in order to meet tax and bank deadlines; β€’ Works with company financial team to maintain and improve internal controls; β€’ Maintains General Ledger accounting functions and account reconciliations; β€’ Maintains the Fixed Asset and related depreciation schedules; ensures proper recording of new purchases and disposals; β€’ Works closely with Human Resources in the development and economic evaluation of various employee benefit programs such as 401(k) and health insurance policies. β€’ Tracks and maintains company insurance policies and assembles documentation for annual audits of those insurance policies; β€’ Manages commercial banking relationships to facilitate credit and treasury services under highly competitive terms; β€’ Monitors payroll processing and compliance with regulations; β€’ Identifies solutions to discrepancies in financial records; β€’ Possesses intellectual curiosity and a willingness to develop significant expertise in federal government contracting; β€’ Builds and maintains relationships with other finance executives in the advertising and federal government contracting industries. β€’ Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

β€’ Bachelor's degree in accounting and 7+ years of progressively responsible experience. β€’ CPA certification is strongly preferred. β€’ Thorough knowledge of GAAP. Strong ability to present financial information to a variety of audiences. β€’ Thorough knowledge of the advertising, PR and communications industries with previous experience with an advertising and marketing firm. β€’ Proficient in the use of NetSuite accounting software and Microsoft Office software. β€’ Previous supervisory experience. β€’ Entrepreneurial spirit and initiative to take ownership of duties, support business development, marketing and strategic endeavors and show firm-wide leadership. β€’ Critical thinker and problem solver who can advise management and contribute ideas to optimize firm productivity and achieve goals. β€’ Attention to detail. β€’ Strong interpersonal skills. β€’ Strong organizational and communication skills.
