• Provide technical and application support for products (30%) • Manage product test programs (25%) • Design tests to optimize performance, material use and manufacturing efficiency. • Develop connector and lateral systems for the building industry (20%) • Develop experimental plans, organize and analyze data, and make decisions. • Work with Marketing to develop technical literature (15%) • Provide internal support and training as well as evaluation of processes and procedures (10%)

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering required. • Passed NCEES Fundamentals of Engineer (FE) Exam required. • Coursework or structural design experience, including steel, timber and/or reinforced concrete structures. • Practical working knowledge of common timber, concrete and steel construction methods. • Familiarity with Simpson Strong-Tie products is a plus. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as mechanical drawings, architectural and structural plans, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the Simpson Strong-Tie. • Effective analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. • Strong organizational skills. • Ability to prioritize multiple projects. • Demonstrated ability to motivate and work with team members. • Strong communication skills needed as clear communication is required to effectively deliver projects to customers as well as direct team members. • Frequently used software includes Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as other software including AutoCAD and Bluebeam. • Basic programming knowledge in VBA (Excel and AutoCAD) or MATLAB is a plus.
