Description

• Upstart is a leading AI lending marketplace partnering with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit. • The Growth Pricing team works on ML models to optimize origination fees. • The Senior Software Engineer will implement features that enhance borrower engagement and maximize revenue. • Job location is Remote or in offices in San Mateo, Columbus, or Austin. • Regular on-site collaboration sessions occur 3 days per quarter at an Upstart office.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional full-stack or backend software development experience. • Strong expertise in Python, with experience in a Python-based web framework such as FastAPI. • Proven experience building scalable APIs and microservices in cloud environments like AWS or GCP, leveraging communication frameworks such as gRPC or Kafka. • Demonstrated success in leading medium to large engineering teams on complex, multi-quarter projects. • Proven ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders through data-driven evidence and strong communication, effectively overcoming objections when necessary. • Experience in fintech, particularly in areas such as dynamic pricing, revenue optimization, or partnership-driven growth. • Familiarity with machine learning models and their integration into production systems. • Proven ability to thrive in diverse work environments, including collaborative, self-directed, remote, and in-person settings. • Passion for mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented environment. • Growth mindset with a willingness to learn new technologies and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
