Description

• As a College Counselor at Vanguard, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting our students on their journey to college and career readiness. • You will work closely with students and their families to provide individualized guidance, resources, and support throughout the college application process. • Your responsibilities will include: Conducting one-on-one counseling sessions with students to assess their academic and career goals. • Providing information and guidance on college admissions requirements, standardized testing, and application procedures. • Assisting students in creating a well-rounded college list based on their interests and aspirations. • Reviewing and editing college application essays and resumes. • Organizing college fairs, information sessions, and workshops for students and parents. • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with college admissions officers. • Keeping up-to-date with changes in college admissions policies and requirements. • Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and other staff members to support student success.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree from a Top 20 U.S. University. • Strong editing skills and mastery of the English language. • Flexible schedule and a willingness to work with the students’ schedules (will often include evenings and weekends), especially during the busy season of August-December. • Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction. • A degree in a communication-based field (English, Language Arts, Journalism, Creative Writing, Publishing, Anthropology, Public Policy, etc.). • Experience tutoring high school and/or college-aged students in writing. • Editing experience, especially in positions that require heavy editing to meet organizational standards. • Experience in the college preparation service industry and/or college admissions. • Experience teaching remotely, using tools such as Google Hangout, Google Drive, and Google Classroom. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask, balance multiple deadlines, and take responsibility for students’ progress. • A dynamic and outgoing personality!
