Description

• About Blumira and Our Culture • By making detection and response rapid, simple, and affordable, we can help organizations of all sizes - especially small and medium-sized businesses - which have been neglected, priced-out, or, simply—failed—by existing solutions. • To realize our vision, we're looking for inquisitive and driven teammates, like you! Be part of a friendly and supportive team that embraces who you are and offers you the opportunity to help build and scale the Ann Arbor tech security scene and to learn and grow with experienced SaaS security leaders. • As a Software Engineer at Blumira, you will apply your experience to author and improve new and existing software for our SaaS security product. • You take the lead on directing and implementing solutions to moderately complex, loosely scoped problems that are aligned with your team’s goals. • You are equally effective working independently and as a leading member of the team. • At Blumira, we solve problems quickly to support our customers; you’ll balance a desire for correct, clean, and performant systems with the need to adapt quickly. • Role Expectations • Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications and services that support the Blumira data processing, storage, and detection mechanisms • Support infrastructure issues with your fellow engineers and improve automation around internal issue detection and response • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions • Convert high-level requirements into iterative, deliverable pieces • Develop proof-of-concepts to influence estimates, architecture, and design. • Participate in code reviews to facilitate good coding practices and testing coverage • Help identify and reduce technical debt

Requirements

• Proficient in designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend applications, services, and APIs using Python, Go, or Java. • Experience with web frameworks such as Flask and implementing thoughtful RESTful API design • Experience writing high-performance services leveraging standard libraries and practices. • Expertise in working with SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL) and No SQL (e.g. Redis) databases. Good understanding of data modeling, schema design, and optimization techniques. • Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure • Familiar with git, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging tools. • Motivation and a strong work-ethic - you enjoy building things that matter, getting stuff done, and helping people • Ability to write code that can easily be unit and integration tested. • 3+ years of experience in software engineering. • Experience integrating with third-party APIs, including ongoing maintenance and monitoring. • Prior experience working in a startup environment

Benefits

• Competitive compensation and stock equity plan • Unlimited PTO • A flexible work environment that supports working from home with a monthly stipend • Comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as a company sponsored pre-tax retirement savings program
