This includes gaining an understanding of current tax law, including depreciation. • Becomes proficient in providing assistance with audits, 401 k audits, compilations, and reviews. • Documents work effectively. • Starts to become familiar with the rules, requirements, code of conduct and standards of the AICPA, and the authoritative literature established by the FASB, IRS, FTB and PCAOB. • Obtains a working knowledge of firm technology and tax and accounting research techniques. • Develops a method for complete self-review before moving projects on to the Senior Accountant. • Works within budgeted time allotted on projects and keeps the Senior Accountant in the loop regarding open items. • Knows the importance of effective relationships between the client and the firm. • Acts professionally in all dealings at peer clients level. • Builds working relationships at peer client level. • Seeks to gain knowledge of client businesses. • Works with budget as well as tracks budget progress in a timely and organized manner. • Develops a working knowledge of JGR’s services, systems and processes and is able to apply them with support and direction. • Understands the importance of selling and marketing the firm’s services. • Undertakes research to support sales and marketing initiatives. • Builds a network of peers internally across disciplines. • Builds a network of peers externally through professional associations, university/school studies and client work. • Develops an understanding of the firm structure, the people, and the firm’s clients. • Assists in proposal development and research gathering as requested. • Understands performance expectations and plans, organizes and works efficiently. • Develops an awareness of the firm’s vision and business strategies. • Develops an understanding of the business plan and their role in achieving it including utilization, realization, etc. • Completes tasks within timeframes under direction and updates the Senior Accountant regarding open items and issues regarding the budget. • Effectively plans and organizes own work effort. • Becomes familiar with and adheres to the firm’s policies, procedures and performance standards. • Participates in office wide initiatives – recruitment, marketing etc. • Recognizes and actively seeks on the job learning to understand their role and responsibilities. • Participates actively in all formal learning and development opportunities. • Seeks regular feedback on performance from Senior Accountants. • Supports peers and less experienced Staff Accountants with on the job learning where appropriate. • Works with a Senior Accountant or Manager to set and monitor career goals. • Develops a depth of knowledge in tools and systems and processes (within their discipline) and their practical application. • Develops a working knowledge and understanding of the full range of services. • Utilizes knowledge systems for learning and research purposes. • Demonstrates an active interest in the business world by keeping abreast of market trends and business developments. • Pursues actively self-development opportunities.

Requirements

• Degree qualification • Working towards or has passed the CPA exam. • Developing technical knowledge. • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. • Team player with a positive – ‘can do’ approach. • Strong communication skills-verbal and written and is a good listener. • Strong desire to continuously learn. • Good emotional intelligence
