• The Sr. Director of Digital Engineering is responsible for all run, grow, and transform technical activities of Crain's global digital media platforms, framework and infrastructure. • This role reports directly to the VP, Technology and Product and will work in close collaboration with the product management team to jointly lead the advancement of our digital media portfolio. • You will lead managers of Scrum teams, DevOps and QA to aggressively drive forward application development across numerous B2B brands while ensuring quality, performance, reliability, scalability and security. • The Sr. Director of Digital Engineering will develop trusted and collaborative relationships throughout the business and within engineering teams to ensure technology implementations closely align with business goals. • As leader of a critical component to the future of Crain, you share the desire to constantly strive for better by providing and receiving candid feedback and recommendations, making tough decisions, and always thinking several steps ahead. • If you’re a passionate, curious, hands-on leader who enjoys building highly efficient teams known for getting things done, we want to hear from you!

Requirements

• 5+ years experience leading engineering teams to build high-performance applications for digital media/publishing businesses -- coaching, developing, and engaging onshore and offshore direct reports • 10+ years of direct web application development experience • Strong skills in a broad set of development technologies and programming languages: Node.js, React, JavaScript, PHP, Python, MySQL, HTML, CSS, AWS cloud computing, etc. • Experience working with Arc XP content management system a plus • Experience working with multisite enterprise Drupal environments preferred • Experience with iOS and Android frameworks and app architecture preferred • Experience with cloud-enabled services/applications implementations and support • Experience in B2B/B2C, high volume, transaction processing environment preferred • Experience managing QA teams to develop testing frameworks • A thinker and planner, able to see potential issues and requirements ahead of time and can plan and execute them • Ability to balance short-term tactical decisions with long-term strategic thinking • Demonstrable leadership abilities in changing ambiguous and challenging situations • Strong stakeholder management skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills • A BA/BS and MA/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field strongly preferred
