Description

• Prototype and develop responsive and elegant cross-platform functionality on a custom server-side component framework, built on Java but leveraging SCSS, Freemarker templates, and ES6 on the front-end, with VueJS used for more interactive components • Play a primary role in designing and constructing major application components • Ensure high standards of quality by participating in code reviews, advocating for best practices within your team and without, and helping drive the identification and prioritization of technical debt • Monitor your applications’ web performance metrics and UX best practices to ensure they meet Dotdash Meredith’s high standards, and investigate issues that arise • Work directly with the designers, QA, and product owner in a dedicated scrum team to fully realize the product vision • Participate in a well-oiled 2-week sprint agile system to continuously add new features & functionality to the business

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field or foreign equivalent preferred • 5+ years of experience in Web Development with a focus on HTML, CSS and vanilla Javascript (ES6+) • Experience with one or more other languages • Experience with Java and/or VueJS is also an asset, but not required • Significant experience with at least one server-side MPA templating language - think JSP, Nuxt.js, Astro, ASP.NET, or WordPress PHP templating • Comfortable using the tools of modern collaborative Agile+Scrum SDLC, including Git, Jira, planning poker • Willingness to learn new technologies and grow as a developer
