• GEICO is seeking an experienced software engineer with a passion for building high performance, highly available search platforms based on open-source software. • As a software engineer on the search platform team, you will play a pivotal role in design and development helping to shape its architecture, driving innovation, and evolution to meet our evolving business needs. • A Senior Software Engineer works with Geico engineering teams to innovate and build new systems, improve, and enhance existing systems and identify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. • You will help lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap to deliver a best in-class Search platform and supporting tooling. • The ideal candidate has technical understanding in distributed software systems, open-source software, running large-scale systems and domain knowledge in search and data engine technologies.

Requirements

• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Go, Python and understand object-oriented design • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems • In-depth knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms • Experience with operations and controls of other compute service providers like AWS, GCP or Azure • Understanding of micro-service oriented architecture • Understanding of monitoring tools • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication) • Understanding of devops concepts and cloud architectural tooling • Analysis and estimation skills • Strong problem-solving ability • Strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
