Description

• Lead engineering for Cassandra on GEICO’s new DBaaS platform • Work with Director to manage project dependencies and milestones • Report team progress for key metrics and project delivery • Initiate and support performance evaluations for team members • Cultivate a culture that motivates performers to achieve • Build and maintain relationships with team members for trust • Identify skill gaps threatening future team deliverables and craft remediation plans • Execute difficult conversations on development and performance

Requirements

• Built enterprise-scale platform services, ideally hosting relational and/or non-relational workloads • Strong knowledge of operating Cassandra at scale • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and concepts (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc.) • Working knowledge of object-oriented development • Proven ability to demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quickly • Strong Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.) platform knowledge • Proficiency in Project Management and work item management tools such as Github and Azure DevOps • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer science concepts • Fluency with RESTful Web Services and Event Driven Architectures • Fluency with at least one modern language such as Python, Java, Go • Experience with open-source software is a big plus • Experience with application monitoring tools and performance assessments • Constructing, interpreting, and applying metrics to your work and decision making, able to use those metrics to identify correlation between drivers and results, and using that information to drive prioritization and action
