• Horace Mann is seeking a highly skilled, forward-thinking, and technically proficient Senior Software Engineer to drive technical excellence, innovation, and AI-enhanced development practices within our IT division. • Operating at a senior level, this role autonomously delivers scalable, high-performance software solutions while making a broad impact across multiple systems and business functions. • This engineer will play a critical role in defining system scope and objectives, leading software development efforts, and mentoring other engineers. • The ideal candidate will have expertise in C#, .NET Core, SQL, API development, React.js (or equivalent), GraphQL, and Terraform, with a strong focus on AI-driven development, automation, and cloud computing. • Additionally, this role will utilize AI-powered coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, Tabnine) to optimize development efficiency and will leverage low-code platforms to build and enhance agent- and customer-facing applications. • This is an opportunity for a senior engineer who thrives at the intersection of technology, leadership, and innovation, helping to define and implement modern development best practices within the organization.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • 5+ years of experience in software development with expertise in C#, .NET Core, SQL Server, API development, and modern front-end frameworks. • Experience working with React.js (or Angular/Vue.js), GraphQL, and Terraform (or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools). • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, Tabnine) and a track record of integrating AI into engineering workflows. • Familiarity with low-code platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Apps, OutSystems, Mendix) and their role in enterprise development. • Cloud computing experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including DevOps best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation a plus • Strong background in enterprise-level architecture, system integrations, and API-driven
