• Responsible for translating scientific data into accessible content • Critical role in implementing communications and PR plans • Promote JAX’s mission and impact on human health • Collaborate with team members for newsworthy content • Report from scientific events and conferences • Stay abreast of developments in biomedical research • Assist in writing and editing JAX publications • Contribute to the management of JAX-wide style guide • Partner across communications and marketing teams • Support ambitious team goals as needed

Requirements

• 10+ years of extensive experience in scientific news writing and editing with a proven track record of regular media coverage and results • Master's degree required • Ability to understand and interpret scientific data and present results in an understandable manner • Current understanding and proven demonstration of medical writing and regulatory standards • Keenly attuned to news in the biomedical research community • Energized to inspire the public, donors, partners and researchers • Experience supporting communications strategies to drive fundraising goals strongly preferred • Excellent interpersonal and client relation skills • Leadership skills to work with internal and external stakeholders • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task • Must be intellectually curious • Proven experience recommending and identifying scientific visual elements • Meticulous attention to detail • Outstanding planning, organization and project management skills • Proficient with Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud and other tools
