Description

• Khan Academy is a nonprofit with the mission to deliver a free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. • We are looking for an experienced and versatile Director of Accounting who thrives in changing and developing environments. • The Director of Accounting will lead all day-to-day finance operations of a budget of $100 million and supervise a team of five staff members.

Requirements

• CPA required • 5+ years of experience as a Controller or similar role, with expertise in overseeing a wide range of financial operations, navigating the complexities of varied revenue models, and effectively engaging in cross-functional collaboration within a mid to large-sized organization. • Experience managing complex revenue cases, including earned income and contribution revenue, reviewing contracts, and navigating multiple audits. (ASC 606, ASC 958) • Hands-on experience in Sage Intacct, Netsuite, Workday, or similar finance and accounting systems • Non-profit experience strongly preferred • Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS), EdTech, a plus • Experience in a multi-entity environment (and/or international subsidiary) a plus but not required • Growth mindset and love of learning and development • Willingness and ability to roll up your sleeves and join the team in day-to-day operations • Proven leadership skills and experience to effectively manage teams and multiple priorities • Passion and commitment to our mission • Motivated by the Khan Academy mission “to provide a free world-class education for anyone, anywhere. • Proven cross-cultural competency skills demonstrating self-awareness, awareness of other, and the ability to adopt inclusive perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors to drive inclusion and belonging throughout the organization.
