Description

• Lead a team of web developers and one QA specialist • Provide technical leadership for coding WordPress websites and plug-ins • Mentor web developers in current and new technologies • Write testable, scalable, and efficient code • Establish and maintain coding and development standards • Collaborate with the DevOps engineer on infrastructure projects • Collaborate with QA specialist on best practices • Collect data concerning UX/UI design standards and integrations • Stay current with technology trends and introduce new technologies • Create documentation for newly developed features and processes • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures • Perform other duties assigned by team leader

Requirements

• Senior-level, hands-on experience in WordPress web-development, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript/AJAX, PHP, consuming and developing APIs, and change/release management processes • Minimum two years’ experience in a technical leadership role • Relevant certifications in computer science or a related field (a plus) • Experience in mobile-first development • Solid understanding of UX/UI and accessibility principles • Deep knowledge of the software-development cycle, with experience implementing and administering best practices in a highly collaborative environment • Problem-solving skills, with an ability to listen and understand stakeholders’ questions and needs • Ability to operate in a highly detailed and organized manner while remaining flexible as the organization’s needs and priorities change • Fluency in written and spoken English (Spanish or Portuguese as a first or second language a plus) • Availability for occasional travel for conferences or retreats • Comfort working autonomously or hyper-collaboratively in a fully remote environment • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to consistently meet deadlines (project-management experience a plus) • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively at all levels of the organization • Commitment to the mission and values of Mercy For Animals • Commitment to continued personal and organizational growth in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice principles
