• As the Senior Manager Regulatory Affairs, you will be the company’s subject matter expert on US and Canada ingredient, formula, claims and labeling compliance. • You will be a proactive leader of regulatory affairs and will identify regulatory issues and opportunities that have the potential to impact the development and marketing of Nature’s Bakery’s products. • You will be a trusted partner of the Product Development, Brand, Quality and Operations teams, supporting innovation and maintenance of core products. • You will utilize strong communication skills to translate complex technical information into clear recommendations influencing the work of individuals and groups at all levels of the Nature’s Bakery organization. • As a small organization, we are seeking a regulatory affairs leader who is comfortable guiding senior leaders in decision-making and can also execute all daily activities of regulatory affairs with deep technical expertise, creativity and efficiency. • Ensure that all existing and new product innovation comply with all US and Canadian laws, rulings and regulations affecting the use of ingredients, formula, nutrition, labeling, advertising and other marketing materials. • Demonstrated expertise in product positioning and claims substantiation. Experience guiding brands with a high volume of claims including those requiring scientific substantiation. • Provide technical guidance to our R&D team on the use of new ingredients, from GRAS status to proper labeling. • Proactively monitor regulatory activities in the US, Canada, and Mexico; determine current and expected regulatory status of new ingredients and additives; assess industry best practices and identify continuous improvement opportunities. • Coordinate with subject matter experts in Quality, R&D and Legal to execute regulatory risk assessments and establish actions. • Participate on project teams, anticipating regulatory issues and opportunities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in food sector regulatory affairs. • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in a scientific field such as Nutrition, Food science or related. Advanced degree is preferred. • Comprehensive knowledge of US and Canada food regulations and law pertaining to the sourcing, manufacturing, labeling and marketing of food. • Trust and credibility as a subject matter expert with business stakeholders. • Comfort with ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment; working with a high level of independence, which requires deep regulatory expertise. • Strong professional network with regulatory agencies, experts in food science, nutrition or other health area. • Ability to influence others through excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially with those at a leadership level. • Demonstrated ability to work well with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization and within a complex supply chain. • Organized project management and attention to detail. Able to work manually and implement future systems. • Strong team player, able to work with multiple functions and disciplines. • Periodic travel may be required. (greater travel required if remote).
