Description

• Provide vision, leadership, technical guidance, and stewardship for new Strategic Energy Security Group • Guide research and development in foundational and applied science for energy security advancement • Develop technical capabilities relevant to energy security while delivering world-class research • Strategic partnering with industry, academia, and national labs • Understand security and resilience needs of clients, including U.S. Department of Energy • Identify and lead funding opportunity response from DOE and other sources • Manage group staff, including hiring, mentoring, motivating • Ensure compliance with NREL policies and procedures • Represent NREL's research in energy security at various events

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Public Policy or related fields required for Group Manager III • 14 years related work experience for Bachelor’s • 12 years related work experience for Master’s • 9 years related work experience for PhD • Previous formal management experience for GM III • Significant leadership in an individual contributor role for GM II • Broad and in-depth knowledge of applicable field issues and best practices • Excellent organization, project management, and budgeting experience • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Proven problem-solving and negotiation skills • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse personnel • Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals
