For over two decades, PanCAN has worked to improve the lives of individuals impacted by pancreatic cancer by advancing scientific research, providing comprehensive resources and support services, advocating for patients, and fostering a strong community. Their mission is to take bold action against pancreatic cancer, with a commitment to enhancing patient outcomes and supporting caregivers, researchers, and healthcare professionals.

Pioneer & push science forward through our nationally acclaimed grants program & the cultivation of a thriving research community. • Supporting patients through our Patient Services program by connecting patients with the latest treatment options and providing free • in-depth disease information. • Lead and activate communities across the globe to draw greater awareness and funds to fight the disease. • Advocate for federal funding for research and advocate for legislative support by lifting up our voices to keep pancreatic cancer at the forefront on Capitol Hill.

📋 Description

• Key responsibilities include strengthening, growing and coaching volunteer-based community Affiliates that support organization goals of fundraising, reaching new audiences, and overall mission impact. • This position requires successful recruitment and development of diverse volunteer leaders. • Travel to assigned portfolio markets at least once per month to build and strengthen local communities. • Lead volunteers in community assessment, action plan, and goal setting.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or at least 3 years’ experience in community outreach and mobilization programs, volunteer management, peer-to-peer fundraising, and development, preferably in programs that are regional in scope. • Demonstrable knowledge of the principles and best practices of volunteer program management, and organizational management. • Strong background in peer-to-peer fundraising programs and strategies and successful corporate sponsorship experience • Demonstrable success in leading and managing teams. • Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse individuals at all organizational levels, both internal and external. • Demonstrated ability in effective oral and written communications. • A friendly, positive, outgoing, solutions-oriented demeanor and the ability to build and sustain strong relationships with staff, volunteers, individual and corporate donors, both face-to-face and remotely. • Proven ability to evaluate and analyze data and make decisions and/or recommendations as required for their markets. • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and markets simultaneously. • Familiarity with the corporate business environment • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred). • Knowledge of cancer advocacy, outreach and awareness programs, and grassroots marketing a plus. • Remote project and team management skills. • Must have an interest in domestic travel and be comfortable navigating new cities.
