• We are Paramount Commerce, a leading fintech company focused on simplifying payments in Canada. • As we strengthen our position in Canada, we are strategically positioning ourselves for global expansion. • Join us at Paramount Commerce, where we not only follow fintech trends but shape them. • We're seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Merchant Management & Retention (MMR) team in building robust, scalable, and intuitive systems that enhance merchant experience and engagement. • This critical role will drive technical excellence and innovation across our merchant platform, enabling seamless onboarding, management, and retention of merchants through robust technology and superior user experience. • This is a hands-on leadership role, guiding a high-performance, autonomous team while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. • Lead, manage, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of engineers dedicated to building merchant-centric features, APIs, portals, and systems that optimize merchant operations. • Partner closely with Product Management, other Engineering domains, and Data Science team to understand merchant needs and translate them into pragmatic technical solutions. • Architect and deliver scalable, high-performance systems that improve merchant onboarding, engagement, and loyalty. • Ensure seamless integration and interoperability across our platforms, enabling merchants to efficiently manage their operations. • Foster a culture of technical excellence through code reviews, best practices, and modern software engineering principles. • Be hands-on with design and architecture decisions while leading by example in technical discussions and implementation reviews.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineer development experience, preferred expertise in Java and Go. • 3+ years of software engineer development management, with experience working with Product Manager partners and owning a space autonomously. • Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization. • Strong problem-solving skills with a sensible approach to balancing innovation with proven technologies. • Working knowledge of public clouds such as AWS or GCP is a big plus. • Someone who can balance technical depth with leadership—your team should love working with you!
