β’ We are seeking a data-driven, highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Auditor for Software Licensing to join our team to play a critical role in ensuring customer compliance with their contractual obligations to Cincom Systems. β’ In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive audits on customer systems, evaluating licensing models, and identifying any discrepancies in software usage and claims. β’ You will assist the sales team in investigating and understanding the likely and actual usage of customers through publicly available data (e.g. financial reports, press reports, LinkedIn posts, work force data, conference talks, etc.) to determine audit candidates and assist sales by providing information to assist sales in negotiations. β’ Your ability to critically analyze data and understand technical infrastructure, application architectures, design, and day-to-day usage will be essential in ensuring compliance and addressing any inconsistencies between customer claims and actual software usage. β’ The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, both of IT infrastructure systems and application development although it is understood that a candidate is likely yo be stronger in one of these areas; and a good understanding of software licensing models. β’ This is a position that requires a high level of analytical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to uncover incongruences in complex systems. β’ Key Responsibilities: β’ Perform audits on customer systems, reviewing technical infrastructure, application architectures and how they relate to product usage and licensing compliance. β’ Analyze data, logs and system configurations to detect discrepancies between licensed usage and actual deployment. β’ Understand application architectures, practical delivery of those applications into environments such as VMWare, AWS, Citrix, as well as more traditional client-server systems with a working knowledge of those environments to allow effective auditing of those applications within those environments. β’ Understand licensing models, ensuring that customers are compliant with software agreements and policies. β’ Investigate and research how customers are using products and the impact on their licensing of the products. β’ Collaborate with Sales, Legal, Finance, Engineering and IT to ensure consistency and accuracy in customer licensing, using the appropriate resources when needed. β’ Provide clear, actionable reports outlining audit findings, recommendations, and any necessary corrective licensing actions. Be able to explain findings to senior management and customers where necessary. β’ Keep up to date with technical developments, industry trends, and licensing models. β’ Assist in the development of audit processes and documentation to improve efficiency and accuracy in future audits.
β’ Technical Proficiency: Strong technical expertise in Either: programming, able to analyze and review codebase, system configurations and other technical aspects of software products; Or: systems infrastructure technologies including VMWare, AWS, Device management systems, an ability to administer, configure, analyze system infrastructure tools. Some knowledge in the other area is required. DevOps experience is likely to be a good previous role for these skills. β’ Experience in Software Licensing Audits: Previous experience in software license auditing or compliance within a technical environment β’ Understanding of Licensing Models: Knowledge of various software licensing models (e.g., perpetual, subscription-based, concurrent usage) and how they apply to different customer cases β’ Problem-Solving and Research Skills: Ability to investigate complex technical issues, conduct investigations, even when information may not be easy to access or readily provided, and synthesize findings into actionable conclusions β’ Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to reviewing systems and data to ensure accuracy and compliance with licensing agreements β’ Excellent Communication: Ability to clearly communicate with those being audited to obtain the access and information required, and then to present audit findings and communicate technical issues effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders β’ Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
