• About Rewiring America • Rewiring America is the leading electrification nonprofit, focused on electrifying our homes, businesses, and communities. • In this newly created position, the Senior Staff Accountant is principally responsible for the day to day and month end accounting functions including processing payroll, processing accounts payable transactions, preparing journal entries, and reconciling accounts. • This position reports to the Controller. • The Senior Staff Accountant must have a solid understanding of GAAP and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. • Ongoing and Month End Close • Process semi-monthly payroll in partnership with People and Culture Team • Reconcile quarterly payroll reports filed with the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) • Process Accounts Payable invoices and schedule weekly payments • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations including bank and credit card statement reconciliations; research and resolve any discrepancies • Maintain prepaid reconciliations • Perform account analyses in support of monthly closing schedule • Other projects as assigned • Fiscal Year End Close & Audit • Issue 1099 Forms to AP vendors • Work closely with the Controller on the annual Financial Audit • Support the annual 401K Audit • Assist in the preparation of the annual Form 990

Requirements

• Strong commitment to the mission, policies and goals of Rewiring America • Minimum 5-7 Years of Experience of equivalent level Senior Accountant experience required; working knowledge of nonprofit audit and accounting experience preferred. • Experience running payroll for 100+ employees • Comfort working in general ledger applications; experience with NetSuite a plus • Experience with AP/AR and audit work • Strong computer skills, and especially experience with Microsoft Excel • Highly detail oriented and organized • Desire to work collaboratively and participate as a member of a diverse team • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Strongly Preferred) • Experience with nonprofit background preferred • Excellent references demonstrating a strong track record in performance
