Description

• Own and operate the Checkout API platform—including defining a multi-year strategy for evolving and extending our on-session payment APIs, making prioritization decisions, and developing roadmaps and OKRs. • Be a champion for the businesses building on Stripe, by developing deep empathy for the problems that they’re encountering. • Build a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, commerce ecosystem, and wider Stripe offering to design differentiated and extensible product experiences. • Collaborate with engineering, design, legal, and other teams to jointly shape product experiences that delight Stripe’s users. • Ensure we are building a reliable, performant platform, including system reliability, API extensibility, and latency. • Partner with teams across Stripe that aim to build on top of the Checkout API platform. • Use metrics to inform your point of view and leverage analytics to measure success.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a product role, ideally working on API-focused products. • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. • An obsession over product quality, specifically an intuition for high-performing, ergonomic and long-lasting API design. • Strong API “taste” – you should know what makes a great developer experience and be a driver of good API design decisions, down to individual parameter naming. • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of user problems. • Can dig deep into the data, think from first principles, and deliver the right results. • Experience working on financial products. • Experience in working in a highly cross-functional role that requires advanced stakeholder management.
