• TEGNA Inc. is an innovative media company that serves the greater good of our communities. • Join TEGNA's dynamic digital team that reaches tens of millions of users monthly across our diverse digital platforms. • Our team develops user-centric websites, mobile apps, OTT & CTV apps, and custom back-end editorial tools. • Despite being a large, publicly traded company, our development team operates with the agility and innovation of a startup. • We are seeking a Streaming Engineer to bolster our infrastructure team, which oversees the entire audio and video encoding supply chain, from content acquisition to delivery. • This team provides round-the-clock support and monitoring for our video streams and other infrastructure-related tasks.

Requirements

• S. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. • 2+ years of progressively complex related experience. • Experience in a video OTT/broadcast environment. • Basic understanding of DAI workflows in an OTT environment. • Ability to work independently to solve problems in both the video and IT domains. • Proficiency in video codecs and compression (H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC). • Familiarity with audio codecs and containers (AAC, PCM, AC-3, EAC-3, MPEG-1 Layer-II). • Comfortable working with Mac, Linux, specifically on the command line. • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams. • Basic scripting experience (BASH, Python, Ruby). • Comfortable troubleshooting with Transport Stream and Elementary Stream analyzers. • Experience with video transport protocols such as RTMP, SRT, Zixi, HLS, MPEG-DASH. • Experience supporting live-streaming delivery at scale. • Experience working with AWS Elemental products considered a plus, but not required.
