• About Upstart • Upstart is a leading AI lending marketplace partnering with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit. • Upstart’s IT Engineering team supports the foundational technology infrastructure of our organization. • As a Network Engineer at Upstart, you will play a critical role in managing and securing our network infrastructure. • This is a hands-on engineering role where you will take ownership of our network security and operational excellence. • How you’ll make an impact: • Design, implement, and maintain secure network architecture, including firewalls, VPNs, Wifi and switches. • Monitor and respond to network and security incidents using tools like IDS/IPS, SIEM, and firewalls. • Collaborate with IT, InfoSec, and Operations to implement network security best practices and maintain system compliance. • Automate network and security processes to increase efficiency and reduce risks. • Provide network and security support for office locations and remote users. • Optimize network performance and reliability by analyzing network traffic and troubleshooting issues.

Requirements

• Minimum requirements: • 5+ years of experience in network engineering and security. • Expertise in managing firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco) and VPN technologies. • Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access, Global Protect, Virtual Firewalls • Hands-on experience with security monitoring tools (IDS/IPS, SIEM, etc.). • Deep understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, VLANs). • Strong understanding of Data Loss Prevention methods and controls. • Experience working with cloud networking (AWS) and securing cloud environments. • Solid knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and network hardening techniques. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. • Proficient in automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Terraform).
