• Join the Regulatory Compliance & Privacy department as Corporate Attorney. • Support Risk and Legal Services unit on compliance and contract projects. • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts aligned with compliance and privacy regulations. • Advise internal departments on contract terms and compliance implications. • Assist in developing compliance and privacy programs to meet legal standards. • Consult on emerging compliance and privacy risks to mitigate legal exposure. • Ensure company-wide policies adhere to legal implications and risks. • Travel occasionally for role responsibilities and handle unpredictable events.

Requirements

• Undergraduate Degree and JD Degree (from ABA accredited law school) required. • Admission to a state bar with an active membership in good standing required. • Three (3) years experience as a practicing attorney with compliance and/or privacy experience, including drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts. • Experience within a corporate legal environment preferred. • Previous compliance and privacy-related contract experience is preferred. • Experience working in the financial services, fintech or banking sector is preferred. • ACH and payment network experience preferred. • Demonstrate behaviors based on Velera values: Belonging, Collaboration, Curiosity, Dedication, and Integrity. • A thorough knowledge and understanding of all compliance, regulatory, and privacy requirements applicable to the credit card, debit card, and consumer finance industry; including but not limited to Federal laws and regulations. • Experience reviewing, revising and drafting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with compliance and privacy requirements, including extracting information and completing forms and performing quality assurance audits pursuant to standard checklists. • Ability to communicate effectively and in a clear, concise manner in both verbal and written formats with individuals or groups and give presentations utilizing various audio/visual support aids. • Ability to project a polished and professional demeanor and have the ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity. • Ability to establish relationships and rapport with all levels of personnel, executive management, peers, attorneys, vendors, clients, and members. • Ability to manage multiple projects, work in fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines. • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in making decisions. • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet computer software applications. • Ability to travel as needed to successfully perform position responsibilities, and handle disruptive work schedules, deadlines and unpredictable events.
