• The Cut is part of Vox Media, the leading modern media company. • We inspire essential conversations about what’s now, what’s next, and what’s possible. • As a community of journalists and storytellers, we believe it is a moral and business imperative to amplify voices: to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization and media. • Editors aim to create stories and magazine events that are sharp, provocative, memorable, useful, and, at turns, both playful and serious. • We are seeking a senior social editor to lead New York Magazine’s special projects on all platforms, with a focus on visual storytelling. • You are an entrepreneurial and creative editor with a strong sense for telling stories visually, and excited to innovate on storytelling formats and engage audiences. • You will work across print and digital to promote, amplify, and translate our most ambitious journalism and projects.

Requirements

• Strong writing and editing skills, impeccable attention to detail, and an intolerance for errors • Prior experience growing an audience, preferably on a social platform • Strong editorial and news judgment • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop • A sharp sense of humor • Creativity and a passion for new storytelling formats • Ability to concisely translate a complicated feature or news story on social platforms • Strong understanding of analytics and social media trends across platforms • A deep, pre-existing knowledge of New York City and its cultural scene • 5+ years of experience
