Western Organization of Resource Councils is a regional network of grassroots community organizations with 18,435 members and 37 local chapters across the western states of the United States. It focuses on ensuring that rural voices are heard in decisions impacting the Western region, particularly in areas such as clean, renewable energy, coal, oil and gas, agriculture, and hardrock mining. WORC is committed to protecting communities, supporting clean energy initiatives, and enhancing rural vitality. The organization also emphasizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and grassroots democracy. WORC supports transitioning from traditional energy sources towards more sustainable homegrown prosperity strategies.
