Description

• Reviews medical record documentation to determine appropriate billing codes. • Codes evaluation and management to appropriate CPT code and diagnosis to ICD-9 code. • Meets with physicians to review documentation and secure necessary signatures. • Acts as lead, assists coders with medical terminology and policy interpretation. • Assists with efforts to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements. • Prepares case reports and initiates follow-up for billing process.

Requirements

• A diploma, certification or degree is not required. • More than one credential or certification may be required depending on the role. • Previous coding experience or experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in a related field preferred. • Associate degree - Medical Coding & Billing preferred. • Computer Systems, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, ICD 9 and CPT Coding, Medical Terminology preferred.
