Description

• The Senior DER Analyst provides sharp analytical support to the DER Asset Management team, with the aim of providing data-driven insights into the financial performance of DER projects and efficient financial settlements. • Primary responsibilities include: • Conducting analyses of DER meter interval data and project financial performance data with the aim of identifying areas for intervention and performance improvement. • Generating and automating recurring operational reports to increase visibility into project performance for operational teams, business leaders, and other project stakeholders. • Developing and managing processes to detect and mitigate data quality issues, especially related to meter interval data. • Conducting measurement and verification of DER project benefits, including the calculation of revenue-grade customer electric utility bill savings and reconciliation with customer bills and utility tariffs. • Generating customer-facing financial statements and supporting financial settlement/invoicing. • Supporting monthly financial close with project revenue actuals and estimates. • Tracking DER project performance against financial targets and commercial obligations/performance guarantees. • Automating data workflows and analyses to streamline DER project performance reports and financial settlements. • Supporting the DER Asset Mgmt team with process improvements, tools, and automation. • The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable operating in a rapidly evolving environment, loves working with data, has some experience with coding / tool-building, and is excited to build new things and directly influence the transition towards a more sustainable energy future.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Business, Economics, or Statistics • Strong analytical and quantitative skills • Experience working with time-series interval data, especially electric meter readings (e.g. kW, kWh, kVA, etc) • Ability to code and automate repeatable analytical tasks, ideally in Python and/or R. • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel. • Very strong interpersonal and communications skills • Self-starter with initiative to prioritize appropriately and develop creative solutions • Ability to effectively work within multi-disciplinary teams to identify and solve crucial business risks and operational challenges • Preferred • Prior experience with distributed energy resources (especially battery storage and solar), demand response, and/or energy markets • At least 3 years of experience in prior analytical role • At least 2 year of experience in an energy-related role. • Familiarity with project finance, budgeting, financial settlement, and accounting
