Description

• Niobium Microsystems is seeking a passionate and creative Chip Architect • Reporting to the CTO, this ideal candidate has a strong technical history and technical leadership experience within an SoC research team • The role will influence our SoC Design team through system modeling, RTL coding, synthetic and timing verification • This will require familiarity in other areas of SoC development including functional verification • This role, through the support of our SOC team, will research novel methodologies and architectures • This will involve owning the front-end design and implementation strategy and methodology • Determine SoC requirements based on product requirements • Assess technology options • Develop SoC designs that encompass hardware and software components • Ensure alignment with industry best practices, standards, and organizational goals • Collaborate with all stakeholders to gather and analyze SoC requirements • Translate requirements into technical specifications • Design SoC architecture solutions that address functional and non-functional needs • Stay up to date with and select emerging research results for our use in the technology pipeline • Evaluate, quantify and trade-off technology options • Recommend technology selections based on organizational needs, budget constraints, and strategic goals • Design SoC architectures that support communication and data exchange between different SoC and system components • Ensure compatibility with existing products and future expansion needs • Optimize SoC performance by creating efficient and scalable designs

Requirements

• M.S. or PhD in computer or electrical engineering • Track record of successfully delivering special-purpose hardware accelerators • Minimum of 10 years industry experience architecting and designing SoC and ASIC hardware • In-depth understanding of special-purpose SoC designs (accelerators) • Hands-on experience with: End-to-end product lifecycle SoC design, including system modeling, RTL design, synthesis and timing verification, functional verification, and physical design • Hardware and software co-design to meet power, performance, and area requirements • Post-silicon fabrication evaluation and debugging • High-speed SoC integration and interconnect design • Programming experience with C, C++, and assembly languages • Understanding of cryptography and techniques for computing on data while it remains encrypted • Ability to collaborate as a team member with hardware, firmware and software experts • Hands-on experience with: Modeling SoC architectures with FPGAs • RISC-V architecture • SoC design using CHISEL • AXI/AMBA/Tilelink protocols • Interface components such as PCIe, DDR, and USB • Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
