Description

• Solon is seeking a seasoned lawyer to assist with the legal and regulatory operations of a growing portfolio of private equity investments. • The Corporate Counsel will provide expert legal guidance and lead high-impact regulatory, compliance, and stakeholder management matters in a variety of global jurisdictions. • The role will advise on transactions, provide strategic guidance, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. • Core duties include drafting, review, and analysis of contracts and other legal documents, managing commercial transactions, oversight and management of external counsel, and liaison with third-party stakeholders and regulators. • The Corporate Counsel will also assist in the management of a team of compliance and legal staff.

Requirements

• A law degree (LLB, JD) from a leading university and be licensed to practice in a jurisdiction. • A minimum of 4-7 years of corporate/commercial law experience in private practice or a corporate counsel role. • Strong attention to detail paired with an ownership mindset. • Excellent English-language communication skills, both written and verbal. • Integrity, professionalism, and unimpeachable ethics. • Sound and practical legal judgment. • Prior work experience in private equity and/or investment funds is an asset. • Candidates with an understanding of the legal and business landscape in West Africa, global anti-corruption/anti-money laundering compliance regimes, intellectual property law, or ESG and impact investing are encouraged to apply. • Fluency in written and spoken French is also desirable.
