Description
• Serve as the policy lead, organization policy expert, and chief designer on assessment policies. • Collaborate with data privacy lead and support ongoing tracking and analysis. • Develop and promote adoption of legislation and appropriations in states. • Key policy spokesperson with federal, state, and local policymakers. • Track and analyze assessment and accountability policy trends. • Lead cross-divisional workstreams on assessment policy. • Draft compelling stories for external audiences. • Cultivate relationships with K-12 assessment policy organizations. • Serve as policy lead for policy design and strategy in western states. • Lead, plan, and facilitate strategy meetings with stakeholders. • Mentor junior staff.
Requirements
• 7-10 years of education public policy experience. • Prior experience with state accountability and assessment policies is a bonus. • Exceptional writing and presentation skills. • Ability to analyze legislation and craft amendments. • Strong organization and prioritization skills. • A strong network of connections with external organizations. • Proven ability to build internal and external relationships and influence others to action. • Ability to think strategically and innovatively. • Experience working with government relations preferred. • Willingness to grow and contribute to team culture. • Ability to travel 8-12 times a year. • A bachelor’s degree in public policy or a related field; master’s preferred.
