Description

• Handle a designated caseload of Workers’ Compensation cases • Analyze complex legal and factual issues • Independently create and present defense strategies on behalf of clients • Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs • Partner with Claims Partners to achieve the best results • Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients • Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel • Facilitate prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases • Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial/administrative hearings, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolutions • Research, draft, file and argue appellate briefs in reviewing courts • Participate in Team Huddles • Provide in-house training to junior associates and/or claims partners • Participate in claims file reviews • Attend continuing legal education seminars

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of legal practice experience handling complex workers’ compensation cases • JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the state of California • Trial experience is preferred • Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude • Strong legal research and writing skills • Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) • Lexis Nexis experience is a plus • Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills • Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required
