Description

• Solon is seeking a seasoned lawyer to assist with the legal and regulatory operations of a growing portfolio of private equity investments. • The Corporate Counsel will provide expert legal guidance and lead high-impact regulatory, compliance, and stakeholder management matters in a variety of global jurisdictions. • The Corporate Counsel will play a critical role within the Solon portfolio and its operations and be exposed to a variety of industries, geographies, and stakeholder groups. • Core duties include drafting, review, and analysis of contracts and other legal documents, managing commercial transactions, oversight and management of external counsel in various jurisdictions, and management and implementation of internal policies and risk management protocols.

Requirements

• A law degree (LLB, JD) from a leading university and be licensed to practice in a jurisdiction. • A minimum of 4-7 years of corporate/commercial law experience in private practice or a corporate counsel role. • Strong attention to detail paired with an ownership mindset. • Excellent English-language communication skills, both written and verbal. • Integrity, professionalism, and unimpeachable ethics. • Sound and practical legal judgment. • Prior work experience in private equity and/or investment funds is an asset. • Candidates with an understanding of the legal and business landscape in West Africa, global anti-corruption/anti-money laundering compliance regimes, intellectual property law, or ESG and impact investing are encouraged to apply. • Fluency in written and spoken French is also desirable.
