📋 Description

• Reporting to the Communications Director, the Senior Press Manager will maintain relationships with reporters. • Manage press relations for ongoing investigations, lawsuits, and issues. • Build and maintain relationships with reporters and news outlets. • Write, edit, and distribute various press materials and stories about AO’s work. • Coordinate interviews between reporters and AO experts. • Monitor news related to AO’s priority issues. • Collaborate with colleagues to develop media outreach strategies. • Track and follow up on pitches and projects to assess strategy success. • Provide on-the-record comments to reporters as approved by the Director.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of professional experience. • 4+ years of experience in press relations or a related field. • 3+ years of experience working on issues related to U.S. politics, government, or public policy. • Experience working on projects requiring rapid response and exceptional standards in fact-checking and accuracy. • High level of attention to detail and follow-through. • Proven ability to scan and process large amounts of information. • Experience multitasking and managing several projects with varying scopes. • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. • Excellent political and professional judgment. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile, and collaborative environment. • Familiarity with pro-democracy issues and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
