Description

• Lead efforts in securing transformative funding from institutional donors. • Develop and implement a comprehensive institutional fundraising strategy to raise at least $10 million annually from institutional funders, with a focus on identifying and securing 7+ figure gifts. • Manage and grow a diverse portfolio of foundation funders, creating customized strategies for engagement, solicitation, and stewardship tailored to institutional funder interests in food sovereignty, climate justice, and economic justice. • Collaborate with the VP of Philanthropic Partnerships & Influence, program staff, and senior leadership to cultivate and solicit institutional gifts. • Partner closely with the Director of Communications to develop content that communicate the impact of Thousand Currents' work. • Lead and mentor a team focused on institutional fundraising, providing strategic guidance, coaching, and support to ensure ambitious fundraising goals are met. • Organize and participate in key institutional donor meetings, events, and high-profile gatherings, showcasing Thousand Currents’ impact and building donor engagement opportunities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in fundraising with a proven track record of securing major gifts, particularly 7+ figure gifts from institutional donors. • At least 5 years of experience leading and managing teams. • Demonstrated experience working within global organizations, with fluency in global issues and trends related to climate justice, food sovereignty, and economic justice. • Strong expertise in philanthropic networks, particularly in foundation giving, including familiarity with funding collaboratives. • Proven ability to develop and implement ambitious strategies that drive significant revenue growth. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft and present compelling cases for support to diverse institutional audiences. • Adept at managing multiple projects, setting priorities, and meeting ambitious goals within tight deadlines. • Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM systems for donor tracking and portfolio management. • Commitment to social justice, with experience in feminist, community-centered, or social justice-oriented fundraising approaches. • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally, up to 30% of the time.
